Members of the Forward
Look Network are well acquainted with Forward Look Frank as the "can
do" radio guy. Frank is also deep into a '59 Fury project. In his own
words:
The kid treated the car like dirt and got rear ended once.
Only the bumper was damaged. He even went so far as to pop rivet the stainless
trim in instead of using clips. The Fury did have a good clean body though
so I got her for $2000. Following Johnny Cash's one piece at a time song,
I've been doing her one piece at a time. So far the engine compartment is
done except for brakes and linkage. The Chrome is all redone. Now I have the
tranny, axle and interior to do. I did alot of the work myself except the
engine rebuilding ... As far as options go it came with power steering, power
brakes, variable wipers, windshield washer, back up lights, sport Fury steering
wheel, padded dash, radio, clock (standard on Fury), underhood pad,
"A little bit of background on my car. Got it almost
nine years ago from a college kid. His parents bought it for him because he
wanted a Christine car. They did a red and white paint scheme over the original
Caribbean blue and threw it together. They botched the car up so much no one
wanted it.
and dual mirrors. I've added AP-1 record changer, mirror
matic, autronic eye, power swivel seats, factory A/C, rear defroster, dual
antennas, sport deck, bumper guards front, courtesy lights, glove box lights,
fender skirts, and door edge guards.
Basically like my friend says...the car is loaded. My engine
was a 318 2-bbl but I've added the dealer installed 2-4bbl
option. I used the '57 Fury carbs and intake and the '58 oval air cleaners.
The valve covers and air cleaners are chromed. I've also added the Mopar Performance
viscous fan package, electronic ignition (with hidden box) and I have a custom
made racer brown cam that makes a good rumpety- rump idle. Soon I will be
adding SpitFire headers, 2-1/2" exhaust and a set of custom ported, race
prepped heads with over sized valves prepared by Gary Pavlovich...Oh, she's
gonna be red and white with a red and black interior."
